THE INTELLIGENCE OPERATOR GUIDE

Twelve practical modules for Acquisition X-Ray and Progress Studio. Learn the controls, export independent reports and avoid misleading data.

MODULE 01

Start with one meaningful question

Choose one offer and a real problem, such as “why do suitable enquiries stop before booking?” Avoid broad business performance claims.

Do this: Open Acquisition X-Ray, fill in your business and offer, and describe the customer action you want to improve.
MODULE 02

Choose a comparable period

Counts should refer to the same customer journey and time window when possible. Comparing different audiences or periods can create misleading rates.

Do this: Set the period, check where your figures came from, and untick the comparable-data control when appropriate.
MODULE 03

Enter counts or leave them unknown

There are five common stages from relevant visits to purchases. Each blank count stays unknown. A later stage can legitimately be skipped in your business model.

Do this: Use a real number where you have it; otherwise leave the box empty. Do not type zero for a count you never measured.
MODULE 04

Mark estimates clearly

An estimate is useful in planning, but it is not the same as a recorded count. Mixed sources need a caution label.

Do this: Use the source selector beside each X-Ray count to mark it as Recorded or Estimate, then inspect the preview.
MODULE 05

Read the handoff comparisons

X-Ray compares adjacent counts only when enough data exists and counts appear consistent. A low percentage is a place to investigate, not proof of why it happened.

Do this: Review the generated report, including the cautions. Check whether any count is suspiciously large or based on a different period.
MODULE 06

Write competing explanations

Your first theory is only a theory. Ask what else could explain the same symptom. Better hypotheses can be tested separately.

Do this: Fill the three Possible Reasons slots with different ideas and describe what actually supports each one.
MODULE 07

Choose one small test

A useful experiment changes something you can control and has a real sign to observe. You need not build a full tracking system first.

Do this: Use the Next Real Test section to record one change, the observation to look for and a review date.
MODULE 08

Save, reopen and export X-Ray

Save Project downloads your editable JSON file. HTML Report creates a standalone reading copy and Stage CSV records the input counts. They are separate documents.

Do this: Export the three formats, reopen the JSON and inspect the HTML independently. A preview cannot gather real data on its own.
MODULE 09

Choose the right report audience

Progress Studio is for a concise and truthful update. A private operating record may contain details that should not be shared publicly.

Do this: Decide whether the report is for yourself, a colleague or a client. Remove private customer information before export.
MODULE 10

Customize the report design

Choose one of eight brand recipes and change colours, layout and type. This changes the report itself, not your Ghost membership theme.

Do this: Switch between Editorial, Dashboard and Statement layouts. Use mobile and full-window preview before exporting.
MODULE 11

Edit every section and omit blanks

Every template heading has an editable field, including Numbers, Activities, Lessons and Next Steps. Unfilled cards are omitted from the public HTML.

Do this: Enter only recorded figures or mark estimates. Add actual work and outcomes; leave unused measures and activities blank.
MODULE 12

Publish and revisit the next move

Download the full standalone HTML, keep JSON backup and publish only if you want the report available publicly. Ghost cannot verify a URL was published or read client enquiries.

Do this: Open the exported file by itself. Add a published report to Territory yourself; record real experiments in Observatory and revisit the mission later.

If something goes wrong

Nothing appears in the report: add a heading, a measure or an action. Empty optional sections are deliberately omitted. Counts disagree: check that each stage covers the same period and group. The preview seems wrong: open it in a new window and compare with the actual downloaded HTML. You lost a project: reopen the JSON backup, not the exported public report. You cannot see a download: allow browser downloads or check your Downloads folder.
